About "Her Night Of Film"
Her Night of Film is a one day mini film festival created by Hannah Walker and Christian Silva. The two ladies make up a nine person film collective called 9th & York, and they are dead set on bringing highly conceptual independent films created by women in key positions, to Houston.
This event was created to highlight the importance of women in production and we plan on making these films a common part of Houston's community and culture. The goal of "Her Night of Film" screening events is to introduce the community to new and broader perspectives through films that aren't normally shown here. When we expose a community to powerful visuals that prove that the creativity within us knows no limits, we can help a city grow and build through creativity and innovation.
The fact that these powerful visuals were brought to life by kick- ass women, well that's just the icing on the cake.
Short Film Screenings
Her Night begins with a group of highly creative short films selected by the event creators Hannah and Christian. An audience favorite will be selected at the end of the night.
Writer/Director: Kay Tuxford
To Friendships that last...till the bottom of the glass.
Directed By Sam Pfab

Phoebe is a real catch... she just doesn’t know it yet. Far from home, she tackles a new sea of challenges during her first weeks at college. With her flamboyant roommate Adam as her navigator, she no longer feels like a small fish in a big pond, and she learns to feel comfortable in her own skin.
Directed By: Marcela Cantú Serrano
Lucy is a studious high school junior who dreams of attending the Sadie Hawkins dance with Tomás, a classmate who keeps to himself and sits behind her in Spanish class. After devising a way to get his attention, the two strike up a flirtatious friendship, setting off a chain of events that inspire Lucy to finally take the leap -- but just when she thinks the hardest part is over, things take an unexpected, and rather mortifying, turn.
Feature Film Premier
A special selected feature film will be shown after the short films and a very brief intermission. The Film selected for the very 1st Her Night of Film is Bite Me!!
Directed By: Meredith Edwards
Bite Me is a subversive romantic comedy about the real-life subculture of people who believe that they're vampires and the IRS agent who audits them.
Bite Me is the second feature film of writer/director duo Naomi McDougall Jones and Meredith Edwards. Their first feature film, Imagine I’m Beautiful won 12 awards on the film festival circuit before receiving theatrical and digital distribution.
During this time we will have a short Q&A with the key creators of Bite Me. Engagement is encourage in order to inspire and create conversation around women in film and the making of their project.
